Early in his career, he formed a formidable frontcourt duo with Ralph Sampson, known as the "Twin Towers," leading the Rockets to the 1986 NBA Finals.

Throughout his career, Olajuwon achieved numerous individual accolades. He became the first non-American player to win the NBA MVP award, the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, and the Finals MVP, all in the same season (1993-94). His ability to dominate on both offense and defense was unmatched, as he led the league in blocks three times and rebounds twice. Olajuwon’s signature "Dream Shake" move became one of the most iconic post moves in basketball history, leaving defenders helpless. His leadership and clutch performances were instrumental in the Rockets' two championship runs, including a memorable victory over Patrick Ewing’s New York Knicks in 1994.

In addition to his NBA success, Olajuwon was a member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic basketball team, which won the gold medal. He was named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History in 1996 and was later honored as part of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team in 2021. Olajuwon retired as the NBA’s all-time leader in blocked shots, with 3,830, and remains one of only four players in league history to record a quadruple-double. His impact on the game, both as a player and as a global ambassador for basketball, continues to be felt long after his retirement.
