Born on November 3, 1960, Kiraly's career began to take shape during his college years at UCLA, where he played under the guidance of head coach Al Scates. In 2012, he became the head coach of the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team. Under his leadership, the team achieved a historic milestone by winning their first-ever Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This victory completed Kiraly's "triple crown" of Olympic success, as he had now won gold as a player in both indoor and beach volleyball, and as a coach.
