Bruce Bochy began his baseball career as a catcher for the Houston Astros in 1978. He went on to play for the New York Mets in 1982, and finished his career with the San Diego Padres from 1983-1987.
After his retirement and coaching the minor league team, Bochy managed the Padres to become the most improved by winning percentage his rookie year. The following year, he would be named NL Manager of the Year and in 1998 would lead the Padres to win the World Series.
In 2006, Bochy left the Padres to manage the San Francisco Giants. He would lead the Giants to a World Series win in 2010, 2012, and 2014.
