Prince Fielder
He run the Home Run Derby in 2009 and 2012; He won the 2007 NL Hank Aaron Award
Fielder's career reached new heights when he became the youngest player in National League (NL) history to hit 50 home runs in a season. This remarkable achievement solidified his reputation as one of the premier power hitters in the game. In 2009, Fielder won his first Home Run Derby, defeating Nelson Cruz in the final round. He would go on to win the Derby again in 2012, becoming the first player to win the event as both an American League (AL) and NL All-Star. His ability to perform on the biggest stages, combined with his consistent production, earned him six All-Star selections over the course of his career.
In January 2012, Fielder signed with the Detroit Tigers, where he continued to be a dominant force in the lineup. However, his time with the Tigers was relatively short, as he was traded to the Texas Rangers in November 2013. Unfortunately, Fielder's career was cut short due to recurring neck injuries, which required two surgeries in three years. On August 10, 2016, Fielder announced his retirement from professional baseball, ending a career that saw him hit 319 home runs, the same number as his father, Cecil Fielder. The father-son duo remains the only pair in MLB history to each hit 50 home runs in a season.
Prince Fielder's legacy in baseball is not only defined by his individual accomplishments but also by his unique connection to his father, Cecil. Together, they became the first father-son duo to hit 40 home runs in a season, a feat that stood until 2021. Fielder's career, though shortened by injury, left an indelible mark on the game, and his contributions to the Brewers, Tigers, and Rangers will be remembered by fans and analysts alike. His powerful swing and ability to change the course of a game with one swing of the bat made him one of the most exciting players of his era.
