Although he was listed as a wide receiver, and played occasionally at that position during his career (especially in his later years with the Bills), Steve Tasker is mostly remembered for his work on special teams. He gained a reputation as one of the league's most feared hitters as he covered both punt and kickoff returns, forcing numerous fumbles by opposing return men. He was the first player to establish himself as a major star almost exclusively through special teams play without being either a kicker or a return man. Tasker played in seven Pro Bowls (1987 and 1990-1995) as a special-teamer and was named the game's MVP in 1993.
Tasker has done color commentary for CBS football telecasts as well as play-by-play for the local broadcasts of Bills pre-season games, working alongside his former coach, Marv Levy, who also did color commentary until becoming the General Manager of the Bills in 2006. In 2007, Tasker provided color analysis for the BIlls.
On September 9th, 2007, Tasker became the 24th person enshrined on the Buffalo Bills Wall of Fame. He has also been the spokesman for West Herr Auto Group.
