Over the course of his 15-year NBA career, Kerr won five NBA championships as a player, three with the Chicago Bulls and two with the San Antonio Spurs, further cementing his legacy as a winner.

After retiring as a player, Kerr transitioned into basketball management and broadcasting. He became a minority owner of the Phoenix Suns in 2004 and later served as the team's president of basketball operations and general manager from 2007 to 2010. Following his tenure with the Suns, Kerr worked as a color commentator for NBA on TNT, where his insightful analysis and deep understanding of the game made him a fan favorite. His time in broadcasting allowed him to stay connected to the game, and in 2014, he made the leap to coaching when he was named head coach of the Golden State Warriors.

Under Kerr's leadership, the Warriors have experienced unprecedented success, reaching the NBA Finals six times and winning four championships in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022. His 2015–16 Warriors team set an NBA record by winning 73 games in the regular season, surpassing the previous record held by the 1995–96 Chicago Bulls, a team Kerr played for.
