Amy Deloris Van Dyken-Rouen is a former competitive swimmer who made history as one of the most decorated athletes in Olympic history. Born on February 15, 1973, Van Dyken became the first American woman to win four gold medals in a single Olympic Games, achieving this remarkable feat at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Her victories in the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter butterfly, 4×100-meter freestyle relay, and 4×100-meter medley relay solidified her status as a dominant force in the pool. Van Dyken's success at the 1996 Olympics made her the most successful athlete of those Games, and she went on to win two more gold medals at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, bringing her total to six.
