Robert Patrick "Rocky" Bleier is a remarkable figure in both American football and military service. Born on March 5, 1946, Bleier's journey to NFL stardom was anything but typical. After playing college football at the University of Notre Dame, where he was part of the 1966 national championship team, Bleier was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 16th round of the 1968 NFL Draft. However, his football career was interrupted when he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
