The Miami Heat are a professional basketball team based in Miami, Florida. The Heat were formed in 1988 as an expansion franchise. The Heat have won three NBA Championships, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 4–2 in the 2006 NBA Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder 4–1 in the 2012 NBA Finals and the San Antonio Spurs 4-3 in 2013. Dwayne Wade was the MVP of the 2006 NBA Finals and LeBron James was the MVP of the 2012 and 2013 Finals. The 2012 and 2013 Championship teams were coached by Erik Spoelstra, 2012 representing his first NBA Championship as a Head Coach.
